Bringing a Virtual Graduation to Life

Bringing a Virtual Graduation to Life

It seems like no one will forget when the world effectively came to a sudden halt mid-March. As businesses were closed and events were cancelled to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the reality was beginning to set in: it would be a while before we could return to normal.

As May approached, it became clear that one of the defining moments for families - their child’s graduation - would have to be held from a distance as well.

While it can’t replicate everything that an in-person graduation brings to families and communities, 20/20 Visual Media knew there was still a special way to celebrate this year’s class of graduates from all over the state of Pennsylvania: video.

Our team was able to provide five unique, personal virtual ceremonies for five schools:  Chichester, Girard College, Lansdale Catholic, Owen J. Roberts, and Strath Haven to be premiered over YouTube, Facebook, and other outlets.

“Your firm did a beautiful job! While we can’t celebrate our graduation in our traditional SHHS style, this is a lovely Plan B.”

— Lisa A. Palmer, Wallingford-Swarthmore School District

Our personalized productions included individual graphic packages and student roll calls for each school, photo collages, and even a full recording of a Baccalaureate Mass. On site, coupled with masks and social distancing practices, the team worked with students and staff with an emphasis on capturing the graduation speeches that are at the heart of any ceremony. Our editors incorporated all of these elements into polished, professional ceremonies to honor the Class of 2020, all while working from home.

Below, we’re happy to share highlights from a hectic but rewarding month of productions.

The team at 20/20 congratulates this year’s graduates, for their tremendous accomplishments and perseverance during such unprecedented times.

“All the parents we’ve seen picking up their diplomas today, had nothing but praise for the productions.”

— James W. Casey, Lansdale Catholic High School President
